Private rooms added
In January, more private rehab rooms were added to meet the needs of those who come here for transitional care or therapy.
As part of our transition to Person-Directed Care, those coming in for services request private rooms for their care.
To date, we have 99 beds in the Care Center. Of those, 31 are in private rooms. We have 16 private rooms in The Emerald, 10 private rooms for rehab and short-term stays and 5 private rooms for long-term care.
For a tour of the facilities, contact Rebecca Marker-Smith, Director of Marketing, at 465-5065 or by e-mail.
Another van added to fleet
Through the generosity shown during the 2010 Holiday Wreath campaign, we were able to add another van to our transportation fleet.
The five-passenger vehicle is able to carry three people along with two people in wheelchairs. It has a manual lift and is being used in most part for taking residents to their out-of-town doctors visits.
Person-Directed Care in The Emerald
Since March, Person-Directed Care has been offered in The Emerald. Residents are now able to rise and retire when they choose, enjoy open dining for their meals and take medications when they rise and retire.
The new model for care got kicked off with a “Town Hall” meeting for residents and their families with a discussion on what “Home” means to them.
Each section of the Center is termed a neighborhood and staff were given the opportunity to apply for a position to work in The Emerald neighborhood and their duties fall under an 80/20 rule.
This means that 80 percent of their time is spent working their regular duties while 20 percent will be spent helping with other tasks.
An example is that Diane Tarner, a housekeeper, is also an STNA and able to help with direct care and is also able to rely on her past restaurant experiences to help in the kitchen.
Green Hills Philosophy/Pledge
Another component of Person-Directed Care is to continue our pledge of living a GREEN life.
“ I pledge to GIVE RESPECT and ENGAGE those we serve while we ENCOURAGE choice and NURTURE one another.”
